Laura is warmly known as the "Big Kahuna” of music public relations firm Red Boot PR, a company she started in 2009. Red Boot was awarded “Best PR For Indie Artists” by Examiner.com in 2014, and received the 2016 Best of Venice Award in Media & Entertainment. She's also been interviewed by Hypebot, TuneCore, Bridge The Atlantic, and featured in Examiner.com’s “Women In Entertainment” series. For the last three consecutive years, Laura was an official speaker and mentor at the SXSW Music Conference and Festival. In 2017 she was given the LA Music Critic Icon Award. Her approach to PR involves a family-like vibe and experience as press, and to date has landed placements with Rolling Stone, Billboard, Paste, NPR, The Huffington Post, Entertainment Tonight, Us Weekly, Vanity Fair and many more notable publications.
For over 12 years, Laura's been the voice of "Jam Session," a weekly podcast on BTRtoday (formerly BreakThru Radio). Jam Session is a music-based podcast that reports to the Relix/Jambands Radio Chart and brings Laura to major music festivals like Bonnaroo, High Sierra, and Telluride Blues & Brews.
Flowing through Laura’s PR and radio work is her truest art form: writing. She’s written every press release, pitch email, e-newsletter and biography for Red Boot, every episode of Jam Session and their accompanying promotional materials, as well as feature stories and interviews for Relix Magazine, Elmore Magazine and the Sonicbids blog for their “Ask A Publicist” section. Laura is also a registered songwriter with BMI, and has had multiple songs placed on television shows and in film, including on the USA Network's SUITS and the 2016 film starring Jessica Chastain, Miss Sloane.
Following the 2017 Women's March on Washington, Laura took up the mantle of Community Manager for Atlantic Records artist MILCK, whose song “Quiet” went viral at the march and became known as the unofficial anthem of the movement. Together they launched the #ICantKeepQuiet Fund, in partnership with Revolutions Per Minute. In 2018, the Fund will support and amplify the work of the Joyful Heart Foundation, Step Up, and Tuesday Night Project.
Laura holds a Bachelor's Degree from Boston University's College of Communication. She is a certified Meditation Teacher, having completed a 200-hour training under Charlie Knoles of the Veda Center. Laura is a self-proclaimed cookie connoisseur who insists on freshly ground coffee and burns sage to clear writer’s block. She lives in San Francisco with her husband Tim.
